What is a Virginia CASH Campaign coalition partner?
A Virginia CASH Campaign coalition partner is an organization or group of organizations working together to provide free income tax preparation services in their communities. The coalition may be made up of many diverse organizations and may provide a number of services linked with the free tax preparation program; financial education, matching savings programs, or credit report counseling. The Virginia CASH Campaign brand helps to define the groups and brings everyone under one recognizable brand throughout the Commonwealth.
Why become a coalition partner?
Coalition partners are eligible to participate in the VACAP EITC Initiative Grant Program. Coalition partners who qualify may use the EITC grant funds to provide EITC outreach, education and free tax preparation services as well as financial education programs.
How do I become a coalition partner?
Each Community Action Agency in Virginia automatically becomes a coalition partner. When your organization applies for and is approved for an EITC grant you will automatically become a coalition partner. All coalition partners and EITC grant recipients are required to use the Virginia CASH Campaign logo.
How do coalitions help promote the EITC?
Coalitions help promote the EITC by using their community communications network so that more eligible people become aware of the credit and know to ask about it when they are having their taxes prepared. Your organization can sponsor volunteers at a free tax site in the community to prepare taxes for those who cannot prepare their own returns and who generally do not need professional assistance on basic returns.
